Does this sound like i have SVT of the heart

9 days ago i was at the gym working with light weights. Im 36 male in excellent condition. My heart numbers are 123 over 68. My heart instantly went from normal to like about 250bpm. I told the owner i think im having a heart attack. he called 911. They said my face was going pale. I opened the gym door and put ice on my face and took big deep breaths. After 10 minutes it was at 178bpm. The ambulance arrived and they gave me oxygen and buy the time i arrived at the hospital it was at a 100bpm. I know i can't drink coffee or have any stimulants, chocalate, too much protein, and possibly now bananas. i had a medium decaff dd at timys and 5 timbits as well as a banana just before this all happened. Im really scared of it happening again. I also notice if i take almost any medication t effects it as well. This has happened lots but this last one tops them all buy at least 75bpm. Could i have died.

Yes, a panic attack can cause a sudden increase in heart rate as well. However, it usually stays under 1200 BPM, from what I've read, 250 BPM is higher than what happens with a panic attack.

I'm a CF regular, I'll look you up.

Yes, see your doctor and get checked out. I am a Vette man as well. That's my 2004 A6 coupe, love it. Like the older ones as well, always have Corvettes kicking around. I love the 2003 Z06, that's a nice car.

250 BPM is way too high so you need to get a full workup. The good news is that it converted back on it's own, but you should still see your doctor and get a referral to a cardiologist to be safe. If you have, what did they say?

Had this rhythm lasted long enough, it COULD have turned into ventricular fibrillation which is a mostly fatal rhythm. That's what you see on TV when the doc shouts "V Fib" and shocks the patient back into a normal rhythm, but there's no way for anyone here to tell you if this rhythm was a type that progresses to V Fib, you need to see a cardiologist.

Hope this helps,

Jon
