Dr. says I have MILD mitro & tricuspid regurgitation w/ MILD LVH, I am 29....

Hello,

I wanted to see if any of you have anything similar to me or can give me any thoughts on my situation.

Background:
I am a 29 year old female. No major health problems in my past except I gained 85 pounds when pregnant with my son, 5 years ago. I have not lost that weight. Normal BP - 120/75, cholestorl levels are fine.

In 2005, one day I drank 3 cups of coffee, 2 pepsis, and chocolate which sent me to the ER because I felt like I was ging to have a heart attack. My bp that day was 200/100 and I was writing out my will!! It was the most awful feeling. Doc said Normal EKG excpet prolonged QTV interval which doc said was no big deal. Basically told me i had a panic attack and need to see a phycatrist! After that day I went to the ER about 4 times for the same thing. Shortness of breath. Immeadeate feeling of doom, sweating, feeling like i want to faint. So they put me on Lexapro and xanax for anxiety/panic.

My doctor put a holter monitor on me and told me after I have SVT. So i went to see a Cardio. The cardio said I was to young to be in his office, and I have normal menstrual cycles telling him nothing is wrong with my heart (not sure what thats got to do with anything!) then said the dr was wrong and I dont have SVT. Did a stress test and said it was normal. That was about 1 year ago.

So we just moved to florida and I still was taking xanax every night just to calm me down. Stopped lexapro in January because we want to have more kids. Well I started to get the shortness of breath again and I wanted to see what another doctor thought. So I didnt tell the new doctor about my panic or anxiety so she could figure it out on her own. She has done thyroid ultra sound, echo, and a renal one is coming up. I saw her on friday, I was feeling just fine on friday.

She then told me the ECHO showed i have MILD LVH, and mild reguritation on my mitro valve and tricuspid. She acted like it was no big deal. I didnt really know waht to ask her becuase she didnt explain to me what those were. I know I asked her, "okay, how do we treat these" and she said we have to wait and find the underlying problem. So then all weekend I felt awful. Especially after reading online about what LVH was and about the vavles! I was so scared. So scared that I even talked to my husband about getting life insurance on our home in case somethign happens. Sunday I felt as though i just couldnt get enough air in me and had no energy. Monday I just felt like i was going to fain. I went to see the doctor again after breaking out into a big sweat. She did EKG, normal. Put a holter monitor on me. She then told me to take propronolol, 10 mgs to stop my heart from racing even thought my BP is fine.

I asked her to tell me about the LVH, the measurements and she said the echo doesnt show measurements, the tech or doc just estimates when looking at the heart if they think its mild, moderate or severe. That doesnt sound right!

I guess I want to know, do any of you have mild regurgiation, and if so how does it affect your life and what have your treatments been?

I asked the doctor if loosing weight would be the answer and she said not neccesarily. All though since the scare I have been on a strict no salt low fat diet. I have lost 6 pounds! And have been taking short walks at night.

Sorry this is so long, its my story in a nut shell.

I have mild triscupid reguritation and trace mitral regurug. I have a echo done yearly and always have measurements on the report.

Things change every time I have the echo done, I was dxed with left ventricular hypertrophy but not in this report. my understanding that comes with aging or high b/p among other things.

I am on no meds nor am I seeing a cardio at this point.

I am a 65year old female and have life history of a heart murmur.

This echo report says cannot rule out chordal Sam and I have no idea what that is. My Dr. is on vacation so i too am anxious.

You sound fine. Line

The operative word here is mild. That means there's a little something backing up but not enough to cause any problems so there's basically nothing wrong with you. Today my cardiologist told me that the AHA doesn't even recommend antibiotics before dental work for mild MVP anymore.

If you're not healthy they get very hyper and make sure you know it. Just get  your regular check ups and if something changes (really changes not something trivial like you get a palpitation when you stand up or roll over) let the doc know.
You're fine.

I've mild trisc. reguritation and mild mitral valve reguritation, so does my husband.  The Cardiologist told me "no follow up" necessary lots of people have that.  My husband saw a different Cardiologist and he too told him no follow up necessary.

Trust what the docs tell you.  They do not want to be careless about things concerning the heart, they do not want a big malpractice suit coming down on them.

Thank you guys for taking the time to read and post. I thought for sure no one would read this LONG post!

Its nice to know that your doctors feel the same about MILD, that its not that big of deal. I guess because she didnt explain to me on Friday I went looking online and what i found didnt look to good.

Also wondering since I am 29 will it be really bad in my 30's. I guess I am getting ahead of myself. The Doctor is actually a PA and has medical students with her watching all the time so sometimes I wonder about how much she knows. Was thinking of going to see a cardio just to ease my mind. Especially about the LVH.

BARBERELLA- So do you and your husband live normal lives? Do you have symptoms of this or just accidentally found out?

We had no symptoms whatsoever, and they found by "accident" when doing tests.

Just for your peace of mind I'd see a Cardiologist.  A PA in that field would not be good enough for me.

Good luck!  Don't worry you will be o.k.

BTW, the mild LVH also showed up for me.

If a Cardiologist tells me don't worry that is good enough for me.  I bet once you see a Cardiologist he/she will tell you the same.  Some of them I heard want to do follow ups about once a year, if this will be the case do NOT worry.  A friend of mine has this for the last 30 yrs, and get follow ups once a year.
