I am a 45 yr old female who was diagnosed with Ebstein's Anomaly with an ASD and WPW soon after birth. I had OHS for my WPW in 1980. My local card. recently referred me to a large ACHD clinic for investigation of closure of my ASD. After meeting with a surgeon and card there, they are recommending asd closure and tricuspid valve replacement (I have a very severe anatomical form of EA). Even with all this going on, I am otherwise very healthy and I have compensated well for my problems. Other than having SOB problems when exercising (80% 02 level on stress test) and enlarged right heart, I have no other symptoms really. My question is this, is the thought for EA to now operate on it earlier rather than later and what are the benefits of doing so? Or would I be better off waiting until I become symptomatic before proceeding with surgery?
