EF 25%
My brother has been in aFib for 5 years, and just had another episode recently and was hospitalized. What is EF and he is at the 25%, how bad or dangerous is this for a 49 year old male? He is approx. 350 pounds and stands 6'1". Please help me try to understand his conditon. He is to have a cardio ablation in April.
When the EF (ejection fraction indicates the amount of blood pumped with heartbeat), it almost always is the result of a heart wall impairment. A damaged heart wall is unable to contract forcefully and as a result a low EF. Normal EF is 50 to 70%.
