EKG Results

Recently, I went to the ER with chest pains on the right side. I was diagnosed with pleurisy. I was given an EKG and the results showed biatrial enlargement. What is the causes and treatment. I am a 43 female. I take no medication and no prior problems.

I assume they have explained what biatrial enlargement is? bi (2) atria(upper chambers) enlarged. Have they not organised an Ultrasound to see just how large they are? and if the causes are valve problems? They should also be checking your pulmonary pressure.
The problem is usually due to pressure issues within the chambers and this can be caused by a faulty valve, allowing too much blood pumped by the ventricles to backtrack into the atria. What they need to do is find the cause of the pressure problems and rectify it.
