Ear lobe crease

I know the medical world dismisses the connection between a crease in the ear lobe and heart disease but.... I just had a quadruple bypass.  All three of the bypass patients next to me had a crease in their ear lobe.  An article from MacGill University says that it does not cause but implies that there may be a third variable connection of the ear crease and heart disease.  My questions:

1.  Is their an official name given to the ear lobe crease and heart disease belief(something like the Fynn syndrome)?
2.  What studies have actually been done that disprove this connection?  What is the actual evidence?

Thanks,

Through the years a number of studies have been done examining any possible connection. The results have been conflicting. While the connection lives on in medical lore, the majority of cardiologists do not believe that there is a meaningful connection.

When you say earlobe crease, do you mean literally on the earlobe itself, or could it be a crease in the outer cartiledge?  My son has a crease there, and the strangeness of it has always concerned me.  Is this crease something you have always had, since childhood, or is it something that you've developed in later life?  I appreciate any comments.
