Hypokinesis is a condition of the heart muscle cells that are inactive or necrotic effecting the movement of the heart walls. When serious this condition can cause a very low EF and heart failure. An EF of 60% (normal 55 to 70%) indicates you do not have a cardiac output problem. Your heart is pumping normally.
Usually, hypokinesis is caused by coronary artery blockage and an insufficient supply of oxygenated blood to the location of the heart cells. Several years ago I had hypokinesis and an EF below 29% (heart failure range), a stent and mediction revitalized the hibernating heart cells, and currently my heart is prumping normally.
Your hypokinesis may be in a location where there is insignificant heart wall movement normally so there is very little effect on the heart's contractility.
A stress test could determine the location and degree of occlusion if the wall impairment is due to ischemia (lack of blood flow). If there are no symptoms, a stress test may not necessary, but it would provide peace of mind to know the underlying cause. At least your doctor should have an opinion for an underlying cause of the hypokinesis.
