Ejection Fraction

Ejection Fraction

I'm a 41 yr. old male with hypertension.  Due to some chest discomfort that I've been feeling lately (I also have GERD),
my doctor had me take an echocardiogram.  She said that the results were normal, but I noticed that the ejection fraction was 53%.  I've read in your forum that you regard a normal ejection fraction to be > 55%.  Should I be concerned?

No a normal ejection fraction is a range from 50 - 65% and has a margin of error of 5% on either side.

At what point does a low ejection fraction become incompatible with life?  My dad's is 15%.  How severe is this really?  How low can it go?
