Ejection Fraction`

by sandra kimmel, Nov 10, 1999 12:00AM
According to an echo in April, my ejection fraction is 65%, which
my internal medicine physician indicated was very good.  However,
the nurse at my cardiologists said that it is not necessarily good because with aortic regur. mod. to severe, the left ventrical might be working all the harder the get the extra blood out of the ventrical.

So, I felt good that I had strong pumping action, and now I don't know if I should feel good or not.  I am 50 and walk and use the treadmill about 50 minutes a day at least five or six days a week at a brisk speed and feel good.  However, my only complaint is my heart feels like it beats harder every few beats.

What do you think?

Thank you and have a good day!

65% is a normal ejection fraction and it is unaffected by the aortic regurgitation.  However, the aortic valve will probably need fixed or replaced eventually and for this reason you should maintain regular follow-up with your doctor.
