Ejection Fraction

I am a 67-year-old man. The echo report shows 69% ejection fraction. I was pleased it isnt low but now I am concerned it is too high. Any opinions will be appreciated.

I would ask the cardiologist which read the echocardiogram how he calculated your ejection fraction. There are many mathematical approximations used, and he may have used a less accurate one. I suspect this is probably the case in your echo but can't say for sure because I did not review it.

I'll trade you!  I think most doctors would say it is in the normal range.

As Flycaster comments the normal range is 55-75% and although 69% is an estimate it well within the margin of error and not exceed the upper metric.  If the the EF is too high, that could indicate the heart is compensating and it time if the underlying cause is not treated that will lead to overcompensation and eventually heart failure.
