Elavil and athletic performance/effect on heart

I am taking 30mg of Elavil at night for sleeping.  I am a competetive runner and am wondering how or if this will affect my athletic performance.  I've read about elavil affecting conductivity time and/or causing arrythmia.  Do I need to be concerned about this, or is this just in the case of people with previous heart problems or taking higher dosages?

Hi Shannon,

I doubt that elavil will affect your athletic performance, but the best advice I can give is to try it and see how you feel.  If you feel worse after starting, I would discontinue it.  There are other options for sleep medications.
