Electrocardiogram Abnormalities

by Carolyn__0__0, Mar 13, 1999 12:00AM

About 6 months ago, I complained of mild chest pains, shortness of
breath and general chest discomfort to my physician.  She ordered a
battery of tests for me which included: ekg, echocardiogram and a
nuclear stress test.  As a matter of information, I have mitral valve
prolapse and have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
The test results were reviewed by a cardiologist and his comments
consisted of the following:  minor abnormalities were present in the ekg,
all other test results were normal.  His conclusion was that perhaps
these symptoms were a result of my mitral valve prolapse or my
  fibromyalgia.
My question is this--are these ekg abnormalities anything that I
should be concerned about?  I still have the same symptoms from time to
time.  Does this warrant more cardiac testing?
Would appreciate any ideas/opinions that you could share.
       Thank You. Carolyn

Dear  Carolyn,
Thank you for your question.  Do you know what the abnormalities were?   Most likely they are minor which is as it sounds and nothing to be concerned about.  The decision as to whether you need further testing would depend on a number of things and is up to your doctors.
I hope you find this information useful.  Information provided in the heart forum is for general purposes only.  Only your physician can provide specific diagnoses and therapies.  Please feel free to write back with additional questions.
