Elevated Pulse Rate

Elevated Pulse Rate

Posted by William Webber on May 24, 1999 at 09:42:40
I am 65 years old. I am diabetic-blood sugar is in good control-averages 110. Blood pressure is very good--average a.m. is 100/60,p.m. is 110/85. Pulse is 70 to 90 in a.m. and 80 to 92 in p.m. It has spiked to 101 in afternoon with 141/71 BP.
My Doctor says not to worry, but it seems high to me at times. What are guidelines for normal pule rates? I understand rates for well conditioned athletes can quite low(40), but is there a perfect range? My weight is
155 lbs and I am 5'10" tall.
I am unable to find any published guidlines.

Dear William,
"Normal" pulse range is 60 to 100 although it can range from 40 to 110 and still be considered normal.  Do you have any symptoms?
