Enlarged Heart Left Side Only Question

I was told by my family doctor who just made list of top 100 doctors in USA for internal medicane. That I have a enlarged heart left side only. No leakage so no need to worry or have futher testing done in next few years to check on that problem again. Do you agree with what he said to that? I am curious to find out why that happened cause and treatment if any? What I can do to prevent any futher enlarging. I did research on different types of heart enlarging areas came to dilated cardiomyopathy and I have alot of the symptoms of that. Should I see a specialist for this and show him my list of symptoms that kinda match that diagnosis? Thank you!!!

Your doctor should find the underlying cause for your enlarged heart.  I had a dilated heart 6 years ago, and the condition was not known until I had heart failure.  My dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) was caused by a high resistance of constricted system vessels and that condition (high blood pressure) caused the heart to be overworked and enlarge. This condition impaired  the left ventricle contractions.

Unless your doctor knows the underlying cause, and successfully treat there is a risk of heart failure if and when the heart dilates excessively.  This can be a normal progession of some underlying causes. Yes, indeed, you should see a cardiologist for any heart enlargement.
