Event Monitor

Event Monitor

I have suffered from PVCs for several years and have been experiencing some new, disturbing symptoms. In order to determine if anything new was going on, my doctor ordered an event monitor. During my worst attacks, I recorded my heartbeat and played it for the monitoring service. I was told that no recording was obtained and I had operated the monitor incorrectly. This happened three times. I was able to obtain numerous other recordings during other events so I am wondering if it is possible that my heartbeat could have been too weak or disorganized for the monitor to pick up or if the only cause of this is user error? I was not aware of any difference in monitor usage when I had my severe attacks. Also, does taking my pulse during these episodes give a good indication of any arrythmia that's occurring? Thank you very much for you time and help!

Dear eea,
The most likely cause is user error.  It would be very unusual for the heart beat to be so disorganized that no recording was obtained. Is it possible to have a 'trial run' with the monitoring service to try to 'work out the kinks'?  Taking the pulse does help but the most important thing is recording the ECG at the time of the attack.

I also had the same problm when I had the event monitor. I used it a few times when I felt like my heart was racing and they told me there was an error or I was moving too much while using it. Even though I didnt think I moved at all. Was your heart really fast when you used it or where you feeling skipped beats?
