Exercise ECG while on Beta Blockers

Exercise ECG while on Beta Blockers

I saw my doc today, he's going to organise an exercise ECG. He said its just to rule out heart problems (he thinks its anxiety or something else). I had an exercise ECG last April, it was normal. Back then I didnt take Beta Blockers and got to my maximum heart rate (177) without too much trouble, but now I'm on Beta Blockers, if I push it my heart rate might get up to 150 but thats rare. I'm worried the test won't be very useful, also worried I am asked to stop the Beta Blockers for the test as they are the only thing keeping me relatively ok at the m,oment - my resting HR used to average 90, now its 60 or 70.

Does anyone know about how these tests are done for peoprle on beta blockers?

Thanks

Do not worry, if you are on BB for any medical condition, this will be taking into account. Obviously your performance will not be the same but the normality is defined as the fact that you achieve a certain number of METS (or intervals in the Bruce scale) without any abnormality on your ECG independently of the HR that you achieve.
