Exercise induced Angina?

Exercise induced Angina?

I am a 25 year old active male. I have a healthier than average diet, below average body fat, and above average athletic conditioning.  I have noticed lately that every time i do aerobic activity for ten minutes or more, i experience a "sideache" type of pain in my left shoulder.  Is this something i should be concerned about?  I haven't worked out consistantly through the winter, and am getting back into it. is this something that will pass or could it be something more serious?

It could be pain caused by a angina... lack of blood flow to the heart during exertion.  If it is angina, it is usual for the pain to subside within minutes with rest.  That would be stable angina.  Unstable angina is usually a progression of stable angina and the pain comes on with or without exertion.

Because of your age it is unlikely the pain is angina, but it can't be ruled out..It is possible that it goes away, but that doesn't indicate you did not have angina.  Unfortunately, there is no clear way to identify whether pain is angina as the range and degree of pain has wide variations.  Without further symptoms and signs, I doubt a doctor would dx a heart problem based on the information you provide in your post.

Does it go away if you keep going? Sometimes stitch can be felt in the shoulder. Try relaxing your breathing.

If you keep having it you will need to see a doctor.

Good luck.
