Exercise with SVT

Posted by Brad on May 28, 1999 at 11:58:33
I had a physical this morning and brought to my Dr.'s attention the heart palpations and other symptoms I've had for the past year.  A year ago he sent me to a cardiologist beacause I was experiencing palpations, with a fast shallow heart beat.  I also had the other typical symtoms (symptoms), e.g. dizziness, fatigue, etc.  The cardiologist put me through the treadmill test and 24 hour heart monitor.  The summary of the test was nothing's wrong.  I was having stress and my cholestriol level was a tad high.  They went away for a few months and reacurred four months ago, but instead of fast shallow beats, now they are sort of slow hard beats with symptoms of chest pains, fatigue, panic attacks, dizziness, and lack of motivation to do just about anything.  I am fairly healthy, 28 years old, and not over weight, maybe under weight.
After all this my Dr. diagnosed me with S.V.T.  He related he suffers from it and knows the symptoms.  He also related that when I feel the attack coming on I should do some moderate exercises and if the symptoms go away S.V.T. is what I have and don't worry, but if they don't go away with exercise come back and see him.  Does this seem right and if I have SVT will exercise help it?
Thank you, Brad

Dear  Brad,
Thank you for your question. There are many causes of tachycardia  (fast heart beat) and they can be divided roughly into sinus (originating from the sinus node or heart
