RBD,

I have never tried to listen to these sounds before.  I did a yahoo search of fetal heart sounds and found this site (18th hit):

Hope that helps.

Dear Doc, 6 years ago, I had a child who appeared to be perfectly healthy, 7 weeks & 1 day later, he wasn't eating "right"& projectile vomiting. I called his pediatrician, told him of the problem, he wanted to dismiss me because he had just seen him at his 6 week visit. Everything was fine or so they said. He could tell that I wasn't going to give up that easily so he told me to bring him in. After we arrived, they did a complete physical, again, he said everything was fine except he had lost a few ounces. I refused to believe that, they basically called me crazy! & told the Dr. I wouldn't leave his office till they  did something! He finally said, ok, take him to the hospital & they would admit him over night for observation. So, I took him in @ noon. They started w/ testing his oxygen level, it was at 70%, they put him under an oxygen tent, after that they said his level should be at 100%, it wasn't! it now was at 65% and falling! they did a chest x-ray, turned out that he had fluid in his lungs, they said it could possibly be spinal meningitis, so they wanted to do a spinal tap. I allowed them to do this because something wasn't right! I felt my son wasn't going to live!  why? i dont know! I just had that horrible feeling, anyway, when they started doing the spinal tap, he went into cardiac arrest. they did finally get his heart beating again, but  then he would stop breating, then the heart would stop. this went on for some time. they began CPR. & continued for almost 3 hrs. Finally the Dr. came out & said there was only 1 more thing they could do which was the direct medicine to the heart. After a while the doctor came out & said my son had passed away. I donated his organs that were still "good" & finally got the autopsy results back, Cardiomyopathy...... My question is, why did they not find this sooner? Is it possible that they could have forcasted this during the last weeks of my pregnancy when I was on the fetal non-stress testsevery week? It would greatly ease my mind if you could give me some insight, Thank you. A grieving mother
