Finding a right procedure

by Neb-Radojkovic, Nov 01, 1998 12:00AM

  Hi,
I am a 40 year old male with two heart attacks in the past two years. Recent angiogram shows that angioplasty is out of the question and bypass could only be done on two out of three places but with risk because my arteries are small and narrow. I heard about TMR and Cardiogenesis but both are not done in Canada. I am asking for help in any way. Any suggestion that you may have will be greatly appreciated.
  Yours truly, Neb Radojkovic

Dear Neb
We do all the procedures that you referred to here at the Cleveland Clinic. You would be welcome to come here. However, we only do the gene therapy and laser procedures on patients that have failed bypass surgery or are not candidates for bypass surgery. If you are a candidate for bypass, we would do that first, even if it is a high risk bypass.
Do your doctors know why such a young man has such extensive heart disease?
I hope you find this information useful.  Information provided in the heart forum is for general purposes only.  Only your physician can provide specific diagnoses and therapies. Please feel free to write back with additional questions.
If you would like to make an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic Heart Center, please call 1-800-CCF-CARE or inquire online by using the Heart Center website at www.ccf.org/heartcenter.   The Heart Center website contains a directory of the cardiology staff that can be used to select the physician best suited to address your cardiac problem.
