Fingernail color

Does a purplish fingernail color suggest heart disease?  I also seem to have chronic fatigue and exercise intolerance.  Thanks

Dear Ben,

This may suggest heart or pulmonary disease and should be evaluated by your internist.  It is important to know if you are getting adequate oxygen in your blood stream.  This may aso be due to Raynauds or abnormal constriction of your blood vessels.

Each time I get a heart checkup, my cardiologist first examines my fingernails for color and presses lightly on them to see how fast the color returns. Might be something to it.
