Flu Shot Okay For a Heart Disease Patient?

My husband recently has a stent put into him after his massive heart attack on Sept 29, 2007. They made him take a flu shot in order for him to be able to leave the hospital. He has been sick non-stop and is now in the hospital with fluid in his lungs and congestive heart failure. I want to know if the flu shot had anything to do with this. He never got sick before until after this incident. Thanks, Veronica

Dear Vernskie-I am a nurse who gives Flu shots & more then likely the Flu shot your husband received had no "live" germs so could not cause his illness, more then likely coincidence. Flu vaccines are highly suggested w/those of us w/chronic illness. Myself included w/heart troubles.  I would always differ to your MD. This website is great for hearing what other people go thru & that your not alone, but be careful what you listen to as some people are giving out advice they should not be/often it is obvious they are not experts in the field as an expert would not give out definitive advice & in the end encourage you to speak to your MD about your husbands particular case.
