Fluid retention

My mother had an aortic valve replacement 7 days ago. She developed a UTI and is on an antibiotic she now has fluid retention and feels she has shortness of breath when she lays down. She was 135lbs. before surgury and is now 145lbs. She started lasix 40mg today. I'm worried

My husband went from 145 lbs after aortic valve was replaced to over 230 2 years later.  HE is still on 80 mg lasix and has been in CHF consistently.  Watch the weight gain closely and ask alot of questions when tehy add meds for fluid - they added others (spiralactone) and now has kidneys that were fine before under 40% function due to meds,  I ask a thousand questions with each med change now.
Good Luck.  Oh his EF is only 11 % and he is still with me so there is hope yet.
