Follow0up Question

Dear Dr.

To begin thank you for answering my previous question.  In the past I have had numerous CT Scans and Echos that have never reported a pericardial cyst.  Are they always a congenital abnormality or can they appear later in life? I'm beginning to wonder if this was another "error" they made as when the misdiagnosed the PE.  Could it be something else that appears to be a pericardial cyst?

Many thanks once again!

Elizabeth

They usually are congenital, hence I would suggest that they probably mis read either the present echocardiogram or your past ones. I once again suggest that you seek expert opinion in the form of a  cardiac imaging specialist. You could have anything ranging from a pericardial or myocardial tumor/cancer, to an LV pseudoaneurysm,. Hence it needs to be looked at by an expert, and I can't tell you what it is without seeing the echocardiogram.
