When electrophysiologists are doing a.fib ablations in the left atrium, they are very close to the esophagus so they have a temperature probe down in the esophagus which lets them know when they are ablating (burning tissue) if they are getting to close to the esophagus.  The biggest risk is esophageal perforation due to the ablation itself.  That is the only real GI risk or complication I can come up with.

Hope this helps!
