Getting Dizzy and Doctor saying to drink Coffee

I have been told that I have Bradycardia and a prolapsed valve.  When I am awake or asleep I have dizzy spell when I was in the emergency room once after having a dizzy spell I noticed my pulse was around 53 to 55 beets per minute then all of a sudden it dropped below 50 and I got dizzy and while I was dizzy my pulse shot up into the 80s then slowly came back down to the 53 to 55 range.

I have had EKGs, holter monitor and a ultra sound and stress test and the heart specialist I saw told me that some day I might need a pace maker but fro right know I should drink coffee to speed up my heart due to the caffine in it, I did what he suggested and it worked for awhile but I have started getting dizzy again and it is more frequent. I am a 43 year old male, 5"8", 150lb.

My question is this normal or was the doctor wrong about the coffee. Oh yes he also suggested see a head doctor also.

Dear Steve

I do not think drinking coffee is going to improve your heart rate. I suspect that your doctor really thinks your problem is psychiatric, and that is why he suggested the psychiatrist.

I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck.
