My 68 year old father has recently had a chest cold along with that comes the dry hacking cough, he has had this for 3 to 4 weeks, last week he got this sudden onset of pain down left shoulder shoulders intensive treatment Shoulder arthroscopy Shoulder pain pain set at around 8 out of 10. That comes and goes, he has been back to the doctors 4 or 5 times. In the last week he has had shooting pain in the lower back and a smothering sensation that comes and goes along with the pain. He is now in hospital undergoing some test but Dr seem puzzled, he also has some fluid overload in heart. ANY SUGGESTIONS
Smothering senstion and a dry cough are symptoms I experienced with congested heart failure. The pulmonary edema was mild, and I didn't experience any pain though, but that is not inconsistent with a heart issue.
have they checked for pleurasy(not sure of the spelling) it is an inflamation (inflammation) of your lung lining. I have the dry hacking cough and the pain that you are describing, however no edema
good luck

Ischemic (lack of blood flow) heart failure can cause fluids to back up into the lungs and the lower peripheral area.
good luck
