A holter monitor is a small portable device that is attached to you by 2 electrodes and which records an EKG for 24 hours so that your doctor can examine you for heart rhythm abnormalities. EKGs in a doctor's office may not capture your arrhythmia whereas a holter, which captures a much longer reading, might.
You can go about your regular business while wearing a holter (except showering).
