Hiatal hernia repair. We accepted that answer because it made sense. However, the symptoms left completely within 24 hours and that evening my husband went to the family doctor for an EKG only to kind out that he had gone back into A. Fib.
Then later in the month, his electrophysiologist admitted him to the hospital to try drug therapy to convert the heart rhythum. The first two meds didn't work and the third medicine, Betapace, took him from A. Fib to A. Flutter. The doctor released him and told him to try the betapace for 30 days. Well, the other night, my husband was up all night again, pacing and in real discomfort and developed a fever, chills, aching joints--all classic signs of flu or 24 hour virus, yet we think he is back in full A. Fib again because of how his pulse feels. We don't see the doctor again until 03-16-99. Have you ever heard of this happening when someone goes into A. Fib. I know it sounds like we don't know what we are talking about, but I don't think it was the flu or a virus. Since none of the treatments have been successful, we will more than likely be contacting the Cleveland Clinic for follow up and possible better success. We live in Pittsburgh and are willing to make the short trip to Ohio.
Thank you for such a wonderful Forum.
