Heart Failure

I am a 43 year old African-American female with cardiomyopathy/congestive heart failure. I have had the condition for over 10 years. I have an ICD implant and have had 5 episodes of v-fib. My ejection fraction is currently 10-15%. I need a simple straight answer which I can't seem to get from all the doctors I see.  I just need a projected life expectancy. I know there is no exact science, I am just looking for a ball park number  so I can plan. I have a 7 year old and a rough estimate would give me so much peace of mind.

It is not possibe to give you a single answer regarding your life expectancy. This question is always difficult and may be best addressed by your doctor who knows your best. Other factors such as your exercise tolerance, your medication regimen, other illnesses you may have, the initial cause of your heart failure, and the course of your disease over the last 10 years, are just some of the other factors to consider in thinking about your life expectancy.
