Heart Infection Diagnostic Testing

Can a stress echo detect a Heart Infection?  I've tried to research this online but I have only found that a regular echo can detect this. Please advise.

A stress echo also includes a regular echo.  They echo you first, then stress you, then re-echo.  An echo would show vegetation on the valves if there is endocarditis, which is a valve infection.  If the actual heart muscle has a virus, the only thing that would show it for sure, I think, and I am not a doctor, is a biopsy which would be done during a cardiac cath.  I think these are seldom done nowadays as the treatment would be the same, regardless of the cause.  Hope this helps!
