Heart Jolting

Hello, i am 16 years old and for the past year or so I have been experiencing these jolts in my heart. I get these jolts about 2-3 times a day and when i get them all of my muscles seem like they fly out. The best way of describing this feeling is as if your heart stop and is shocked to restart again. I went to the doctor they took a bit of blood work and refered me to a cardiologist and a neurologist. Do any of you know what might be the cause of this? (i dont drink any type of caffeine) thank you!!!

You are probably having ectopic beats, which are extra heart beats and usually benign. They can come from the upper chambers of the heart (premature atrial contraction) or from the lower chambers of the heart (premature ventricular contraction). Basically, a random focus of electrical activity stimulates the heart muscle to contract before the normal electrical system of the heart would normally do so, causing an extra/early heart beat, which you feel as abnormal. It is not unreasonable to see a cardiologist for a basic evaluation and workup, but don't worry too much.
