Recent test discovered hyperthyroidism
TSHPituitary and tsh
Tsh level 12.99. Prescribed
synthroid (used for hyprothyroidism).
Synthroid should be used cautiously w/patients w/coronary artery disease & angina. I have a functional heart
murmurHeart murmurs and other sounds..concerned w/medication used that is for hypo & not
hyperHyper-sal. Could medication cause any damage to heart?

Hi Lisa,
I too have thyroid disease. Unless your lab standards are different, a
TSHPituitary and tsh
Tsh of over 4.2 is considered hypothyroidism, not hyper. A TSH of below .4 is considered hyperthyroidism. I'm not a doctor but have gone from hyper to hypo, so have had lots of TSH tests.

Thanks for your comments. An elevated TSH does mean HYPO thyroidism.
I hope this has been useful. Feel free to write back with further questions. Good luck.
