normalNormal saline flush. They suspect rheumatic heart damage. Irregular heart rate has been heard observed before. I have experience 4 black outs over 20 years for with no apparent reason and have not been diagnosed. Each one is getting worse. I exercise and eat well and never smoke and drink a little alcohol.
April 9th. I was feeling a little vertigo and weakness all over 2 day prior to this incident. Suddenly I just I just got red hot all over, my face looked fidget & sun burnt and I lost consciousness for several minutes. An ambulance was called and when they moved me I got convolutions. Large convolutions it seemed like in my whole body, they lasted 3 to 4 hours off and I remembered having them. I was in the hospital for a week and they did an MRI of the head and neck, EEG, chest X-ray and echocardiograph. They did mention it might be Vasovagal. 10 days after this incident I rolled over in bed and now they suspect I have sciatica nerve damage on my left side. They did check for a blood clot using ultrasound. I woke up last night (13 days after) with chest pains for about 10 minutes and the sciatica nerve damage seems to be pain throughout my whole body, however not near as strong as it was.
Prior to this I have passed out 3 other times with no diagnoses.
The hospital suggests I follow up with my family doctor and a neurologist, and mention it isn’t text book.
I would appreciate any comments or suggestions on to what you think could have caused this and what tests and how I should try to get diagnosed. Thank you for you help.
Could any of this weekness and nerve damage be from the heart?
I was getting some heavy chest pressure in for 2 days after I was released and than got was they called siatic (sciatic) nerve damage. However now it seems to get be my whole body and not as painful as it was. When I was first admitted into the hospital I was told it was a stroke, the doctor told me the cat scan showed it however I was later told that it wasn't that the person who read the cat scan on the weekend didn't read it right.
I've heard that stroke can sometime cause these aftereffects. I just don't know. Any advise on what my next step should be would be appreicated.
good luck
I realize that you cannot give a diagnosis without checking me however perhaps if I tell you what my former cardiologist said (he has retired and the last time I saw him was in 1998) after one of the fainting spells he said that my PR was .22, the fainting before it was mention inferior T waves and a late systolic apical click, (they are normal at times) the time before that was brief episodes of PAT that I wasn’t aware of. Mild thickening of the anterior and posterior leaflets of the mitral valve with trivial regurgitation. Vasovagal, has been mentioned, however it was not confirmed. During one of these spells I lost control of my bladder during another spell this last time I had severe convulsions. Each time they are getting much worse. I have only had 4 of them in 20 years. After being released from the hospital just last week they said to follow up with a neurologist. I don’t believe they did enough tests to go to the bottom of this, as you can see from my first note.
Do you think I should ask for a confirmed diagnosis?
Do you think I should ask the family doctor to refer me to a cardiolist and a neurologist?
Can you think of anything else that could cause this that I should be looking into?
Thanking you in advance for your suggestions.
