Heart Tests and Coumadin

by virgogrl73, Mar 26, 2009 09:05AM
I know many people are on Coumadin for various heart problems.  Last year my mom went through some tests and they discovered partial blockages, medication was the only treatment at that time, the blockages weren't severe enough yet.  She also has atrial fibrilation and now she has a weak pulse in her feet and leg pain so the dr thinks it's PAD. Anyway, she is going for a stress test and then a CT scan of her legs to determine blockages and the doctor told her to be prepared for a possible angiogram.  Does anyone know if you need to come off of coumadin for an angiogram?  Doesn't taking a patient off of coumadin to perform a heart test greatly increase the chance of a heart attack?  I know these are questions to ask the dr but I don't have the greatest faith in dr's due to some previous experiences of my own so I like to do a lot of research on my own.

On a seperate note, I remember reading about a new cholesterol drug that *may* reduce plaque buildup but now I can't find it.  Does anyone know the name of that drug?

Thanks
