Heart beating over 200 beats/minute past week.

by seeker888, Oct 27, 2007 08:12PM
My brother's heart rate has been over 200 beats per minute for the past week.
He's only 28 years old and had these episodes where his heart beats really fast but it usually doesn't last that long.
The doctors can't figure out what's causing it but today the heart rate went as high as 300 beats/minute. He's been having chest pains this past week also. Today he was admited to the ER and was given Beta-Blockers and that slowed it down but not below 200 beats/minute though.
He wasn't taking any medications b/4 being admitted to the hospital today.
They're keeping him there for the next week to do all sorts of tests and find out what's going on.

Does anyone know what's wrong with him?
