Heart in my throat!

by Jon Silks, Aug 19, 1999 12:00AM
When I get nervous or do any excersize my heart jumps around/flutters/skips a beat(any of these could describe it)and makes me feel like it is in my throat and it always startles me. I have been to the doctors and they have said two things: first they said it was my heart speeding up, sorta like a burst of speed, and second they said it was a normal early heartbeat and it was completely normal. Normal? I sometimes feel weak and have no concentration when this happens! I am on 1/2 of a Lopressor pill in the Am, that is 1/2 of the smallest dose. My question is this, can it be made to go away? Thank you in advance. Jon Silks

By the way I am 5' 8" 180lbs.

It sounds like you have premature beats. If this is the case, they usually do not go away completely. Lopressor can help decrease their frequency and intensity though.
