Heart issue or something eles

I'm not sure if this in the proper section, if this should be else where please feel free to move it.

This might be along post but I'm going to be as detailed as possible because this is driving me crazy, so I apologize in advance for the long read.

In high school I was 171lbs very lean and fit played all sports and was very active. After school life issues got the best of and over the next 5 years i gained about 100lbs and felt like crap about myself. So back in 2008 I had enough and lost 105lbs in about 4 years, I felt great and got back into playing sports.

Well 7 months ago I hurt my leg really bad and was laid up for about 2 months and lost all my drive to keep up my routine and gained 20lbs.  The weight isnt the worst part, in drown out my depression I made the stupid choice of drinking. At some points I was drinking 13-15 beers a night, but I had enough the last 2 months I have weened myself off going from 13-15 down to 8, 6, and now im down to 2-3 and only a few nights a week. Even while drinking alot I still drink 140-200 ounces of water a day....I love water, its really the only thing I drink other than beer. The odd thing is I feel worse now than when I was drinking more.

The past few weeks it seems like I'm short of breath doing light active to just sitting around (hoping its because I havent been working out and my cardio is low), my resting heart rate jumps around from 84 to as high as 98 bpm and everything in between, my insides feel very shaky, but my hands are very stable, I feel nauseous just about everyday (but never vomit), insomnia (i have had it since I was young), light headaches that come and go, aches and pains in the upper back and im always tired, and from time to time I feel hot and cold,  light headed that comes and goes but I never come close to losing consciousness. I didnt have any of this when I was drinking more.

Thanks for the help :). So i went to the dr and he gave me an ekc, checked blood pressure and pulse all cameback normal he doesnt think its heart related but im still worried. For the past week or so i have this "feeling" in the center/slightly left of my chest. Its not pain, not aching, not pressure or burning...just dull. Along with that feeling i have constant aches thru out my upper body mostly in shoulder blade area and i keep getting hot flashes, along with burping alot more than i can remember. Im setting up an appointment with another dr to get some other tests done but this is driving me crazy. Im worried its my heart. Anyone ever experience this?

If you're among the lucky few who have health insurance, it would be *really* sensible to see your doc and get a basic heart check. After all, you did balloon up, which isn't good for the heart, and abuse alcohol pretty amazingly, also bad for the heart.  Plus you do have a family history that seems to kick in when the men get to about 40.  You're 31, but cardio problems seldom develop just overnight.  Usually, years are involved.

When you see the doc, be honest about the amount of booze you took in back then, as well as your consumption now.  As for the fact that you felt better on the sauce, well, alcohol is a narcotic and you would not have felt physical discomfort when chronically drunk.  Frankly, your more general symptoms now sound a lot like withdrawal, as described here:

If you get an all-clear on the heart and still feel obsessed about the ticker, ask for a referral to someone who treats anxiety.

Back in sep during my follow up for my leg (i was drinking heavy at the time) everything checked.

There is family history of heart disease but only the smokers and all diagnosed after the age of 40, anxiety does run in the family as well.

I'm concerned this might be the heart but doing research it seems like it could be alot of different things.  I dont know how serious this is or if I should rush to the er or what? I have health insurance but honestly it is terrible so going to the dr. costs me an arm and a leg, so any helpful is great.
