Heart murmur, Death

If a child has a heart murmur, and grows up and becomes an athelete (football player), can the murmur cause his death?

A lot of children have heart murmurs that are quite benign. Often they grow out of them or the murmur is of no consequence. I have a murmur, 2 of my 3 grown children have a murmur and they're just fine. My youngest son was heavily into sports (soccer, track, snowboarding and even skateboarding), had no trouble. A noisy heart is not a death sentence. I'm sure his doctor will monitor his heart as he grows.
