Heart palpitations

Hello, I'm a 37 yr old woman, 5'3, 107 lbs, who doesn't smoke or drink. I have a healthy cholesterol level(HDL is 65, and triglycerides is 63). A few weeks ago, I started to have symptoms such as heart palpitations, occasional irregular heart beats, and hand numbness during bedtime only. During daytime, I've had shortness of breath, but it comes and goes. I went to see a cardiologist last week, and he ordered an EKG, and a stress test. All came back normal, and he said not to worry.
As of today, I still experience these symptoms, and am not convinced that I don't have heart disease. Do you think I should pay another visit, and see if he will order more tests done? If so, what other test are necessary to determine the cause? Thank you for your reply.

I would suggest either a Holter or an event monitor to try to identify what these palpitations are.  Since they are bothering you quite a bit I would suggest getting these tests done.  There are options out there to treat this.

Hi Jennifer,
I am a 35 year old woman who went through all the these test - EKG, echo, etc. last fall as I was having heart palpitations constantly. I wore a holter for 3 weeks and was diagnosed with SVT. They wanted to do an ablation on me but I held off. I started doing a lot of research and I was also having hand numbness and weird tingly feelings down my arm. First i went to a regular chiropractor and then discovered upper cervical chiropractors (check out www.upcspine.com and look under testimonials). My first vertebrae in my neck was so out of whack that it was putting pressure on my brainstem which in turn was causing all the symptoms. I finally figured it out one day when I turned my neck a certain way and my heart palpitations went crazy! I have been under my chiropractors care since May and I can't believe the difference. It has been phenomonal. Some days I do still have symptoms when I don't have enough water or I am under a lot of stress or super tired but they are so mild in comparison. the old heart palpiations used to take my breath away but now they seem to come on and just fade off when I do have them. It is amazing. Check it out. Because I like you, am 5'8, 125 pound with good cholesterol reading and everything else seemingly normal. Hope this helps you out!
