Heart rhythm disorders caused by orgasm (need help)

Hi!
I have a stupid and also awkward problem. I have a history of skipped heart beats most they are coming from the ventricle. I have done ultrasound, several 24h holter monitors and also several ECGs on the treadmill an they were all "okay". My cardiologist told me that as long as the heart is healthy those skipped beats are not a problem.Last year I did another 24h holter monitor and it showed a triplet. 3 skipped beats in a row. This concerned me so I went to the cardiologist again and did the whole series of tests again. Utrasound, ECG on treadmill, 24h holter monitor. Again he told me the same things he told me before. A few months ago I was sitting on the computer and got up and directly got heart rhythm disorders and it was definitely a bigeminus. I clearly noticed it, it was 1 skipped beat and 1 normal beat then again 1 skipped beat and then 1 normal beat. It lasted for maybe 10-15 seconds. I have never had a bigeminus before at least not on any of those various 24h holter monitors which I had. This worried me and I wanted to go back to the cardiologist but I had already been to him a few weeks before and this is where he once again told me that everything is fine , so I didn't go there again. But what worries me now again is this strange link between skipped beats and orgasm! It started last year. When I masturbate then every now and then I suddenly get skipped beats directly after the orgams. I have no idea what causes this. It's not the case that my pulse is very high or something like this. It feels really strange and I cannot say if it's "normal" skipped beats but I am definitely not imagining this. It feel like various skipped beats in a row! And then after a few seconds it stop and the heart beats normal again but since it feels so strange I cannot say what it is. This really worries me and even if I told my doctor about it what should he tell me? I do not have these skipped beats documented and he cannot know what it is.

If you tell your doctor about this, he/she may want you to wear an event monitor in order to capture the strange beats when they occur. An event monitor can be worn for up to 30 days and does not record continuously, only when you press a button when you are experiencing symptoms. This may be the only way to determine for sure what these funny beats are. If this is really concerning you, then I would definitely recommend checking it out with your doctor.

what is an event monitor? is this such a thing which is implanted under your skin?
i have never heard of this. does it handicap you or limit you? can you shower when you wear it?

The monitor that I wore was very small and lightweight. There are two sensors that attach to your upper chest and rib cage. The sensors stick to your skin with some kind of adhesive. The wires to the monitor snap onto the sensors and can be easily removed for showering, etc. You can shower with the sensors on and wires detached, but you have to replace the sensors with a new pair every couple of days because the adhesive wears off after a while. You don't have to be very precise about the location of the sensors. The technician shows you how to attach them in the doctor's office and gives you a diagram to remind you of the correct procedure at home. When you feel the funny beats you press a button to record them, and then you transmit the recording over the phone to the lab where they print out the ECG trace and fax it to your doctor. It's pretty easy once you learn how to do it. The monitor I used was so small that it didn't really interfere with my activity at all. It clipped onto my belt like a cell phone, or could be worn on a cord around the neck.
Good luck - I hope you figure out what these strange beats are. They are most likely nothing too serious.

I have never seen something like this.
I only know the normal 24h holter monitor which is basically like a much bigger walkman which is also attached to wires which are sticked to your chest but you have to be careful not to remove those wires and you also cannot shower.
When you wear the event monitor does this mean that you have to put those cups on your chest after showering? How do you know where to put them? This isn't easy. When I get my 24h holter monitor the nurse always makes sure that everything is on the right spot. I couldn't do this.

hey.
an event monitor is a simple device that attaches at a few points of your body with little suction cups. you attach little wires to these suction cups and the wires attach to a holter monitor, which measures your heart's electrophysiology.
there is absolutely no pain or discomfort with these things, and withvthe more modern types, (called king of heart monitors) you remove everything when you shower, and put on a fresh set of suction cups after you're dried. they come equipped with an "even button" which you press when you feel these uncomfortable symptoms.
i'm 31, and i wore my first one when i was 15. i wore one last year, too, and it's no biggie. you carry around a little pack that contains the device, which if i remember correctly, was small enough to stick into my pocket.
it's no sweat, so don't worry at all!
cheers.

A 30-day monitor like this is only used when your symptoms occur less frequently than every day, making them hard to catch on a 24 hr. Holter. If you are fairly certain that the symptoms will recur within 24 hrs. then they might decide to just use the Holter.

The event recorder I used was actually disposable. At the end of the 30 days they said to just toss it. And yes, it is expensive. I just got the bill, and it came to $1100. Insurance paid for all but $244 of that.

This sounds like a really good idea.
The only concern which I have is that I have never seen such a device.
I have been to a lot of cardiologists in the past and I always got the normal 24h holter monitor. I don't even know if a normal cardiologist has such a device.
I bet it's also very expensive. Imagine you rent this thing for 1 months, this will cost a lot.

I've had it all, bigeminy, trigeminy, couplets, triplets, singles, supraventricular tachycardia - you name it.  It's still all benign.

Orgasm can trigger them for a lot of people, even sex without orgasm.  I don't think any of what you said sounds like anything the rest of us haven't encountered.  In light of all your normal tests, I would think it's just a matter of trying to ease your mind at this point.  Perhaps an event monitor would not be a terrible idea, but I think it will show more of the same.

Hang in there.  Don't let PVCs run your life.

Thank you guys for your help.
It could be that those event monitors are more expensive and this is why most of the doctors don't have them. I have never been offered anything like this from a cardiologist. I don't know if he didn't have it or if he didn't offer it.

remember during orgasm your body releases many chemicals which effect your entire body. Also coming down from climax can cause symptoms as well as you are going to be relaxing every muscle and nerve in your body (relativily speaking)

Hi Luke,
but it happens immediately.
If it happened a minute later then the chemical substances explanation would make more sense in my opinion. It happens really right away I don't think that a chemical substance which is released can cause arrhythmia within a few milliseconds.
This really worries me. Do you think I have to tell the doctor about it? I mean does he need to know what causes this or does it only matter what kind of arrhythmia that is?
