Heart risk

I am 43 years old and I have Lupus. I was told today that my resting heart rate was 89. Should I be concerned and have it checked? There is a history of heart disease on my mother's side of the family.

Normal resting heart rate is between 60-100 so 89 is within normal range.  Some doctors will agressively exam an individual with a family history of heart disease rather than waiting for symptoms to develop.

A CT scan 128 -slice or the next generation 256 slice does not expose the pt to as much radiation as the older scans.  The scan will provide a complete image of the anatomy of vessels, heart tissue, etc.

Don't forget that in some cases Lupus can affect the heart as well.
