Heart skips a beat regularly, very worried, lasts all day. (perhaps stress)

  HI,
  I have recently noticed after working out one day that i couldn't go on after about 15 mins, i was totally knackered.
  After resting for about 15 mins, i noticed a strange feeling in my chest and couldn't get my breath properly.
  After checking my pulse, i noticed that after 10 - 20 skips (random) it would miss a beat for about a second then suddenly start again.  This obviously frightened me, but i continued all night.  The next day i went to the docs and he told me it was probarbly stress.
  I have since had an ECG and blood test and am waiting to see the doc with the results, but  i have had the same thing about 5 more times.
  its usually a night and lasts all night starting about 5:00pm.
  Some times it was doing it all day. and i get a strange tightening of my chest , i qouldn't call it pain exactly, but it makes me feel very uneasy.
  after a day of this it wears me down.
  I stay away from Coffee and Tea, Choclolate and Cola's etc. and am generally pretty fit.  But these seem to happen about 3 times a week now and i am worried to to anything when it happens as i get tired out quickly.
  sorry about the length, but has anyone had similal problems, and what should i say to the doctor when i next see him.  I am only 26 years old and he seems to think that there can't be anything wrong, and I doubt he will give me anything to try to help.
  i have been through a great deal of stress lately, that could contribute to this, but i am just worried about the frequency and length of the incidents and just wondered if anyone else could shed any light on the situation.

Dear Jason, thank you for your question.  I suspect that you are having premature beats from either the atria or the ventricles of your heart. Most people have premature beats, but some just notice them more than others.  When a premature beat occurs, the normal heart rhythm is reset so a pause occurs after the premature beat. This pause is perceived as a
