Help my son decide on surgery

My son has a ef of 20 and has multiple blood clots on his leads.  His last echo showed that his clots were gone so they scheduled his surgery for April 19,  I know my son wasn't taking his coumadin or heart meds he is some what non complaint  They told us that his icd needs a another lead to go to another part of his heart so that the heart can beat as a whole.  There is a long pause.  I said to the cardiologist are you sure all of his clots are gone, yes, I am referring you back to the EP.The next day we went to see the EP who scheduled the procedure.  I asked again did you see the study (echo) and are all the clots gone. Yes.  My son said if I lhave another echo then I will have the procedure. She sent us upstairs to get an echo. They found multiple clots.  and cancled the surgery.  The next day the nurse called and said Korey woiuld benefit from having the surgery asap.  When my son had his icd implanted 3-21-2008 after they implanted the device they went to test the device and it didn't do the trick so they had to put in a larger device, they said his heart was week. Now they want to operate next thursday.  We are both scared to  death... Any body out there who has heard of adding a lead to the other side of the heart to help with the long pause, even though he has blood clots they said he would be better off not waiting, the risk is too high.
