Help with Echo Results

I finally got to see the summary of my recent ECHO.  Maybe some of you could help me in interpretation (?).

-Ejection fraction normal and hyperdynamic at 75%.
-Left and right atrium: grossly normal
-Right ventricle: grossly normal
-Mild to Moderate tricuspid regurgitation
-Mild to Moderate pulmonary hypertension
-Pulmonary artery pressures are 44mmHg
-Mitral Valve has some thickening with mild MR
-Aortic valve is somewhat thickened but opens and closes adequately.
-No significant pericardial effusion.
-Aortic root normal

COnclusions were: normal ejection fraction and mild to moderate pulmonary hypertension.

All of the measurements were within range.

Any light you may be able to shed will be appreciated!  I am going to the cardio Monday.  What should I expect?  I am assuming with the tricuspid regurgitation that I am looking at a diagnois of PH.  Thanks, GW

The words 'mild and moderate' are always comforting to me, 'moderate to severe' gets my attention right away when reading my reports.  I think you will be told that your blood pressure will addressed as well as the usual risks of salt, eating processed foods and smoking.  At the same time, the value of exercise, stress reduction and medication will undoubtedly be discussed.  I would celebrate to learn that you have an EF of 75%.

Quote:Ejection fraction normal and hyperdynamic at 75%.

>>>>>I don't mean to contradict Flycaster and easily overlooked, but hyperdynamic indicates the heart is pumping harder than normal and is outside the normal range.  If sustain and there is other evidence that could indicate cardiac hypertrophy according to the American Heart Association with an EF greater than 75%.

Q: Pulmonary artery pressures are 44mmHg

Normal is a mean of 25mmHg, and anything above 35 can be problematic.
If PAP is timely treated it can be reversed.

Right ventricle will enlarge if and when there is sustained PAP.  Presently it is grossly normal is the estimate.

Tricuspid regurgitation may not cause any symptoms if the individual does not have pulmonary hypertension. If pulmonary hypertension and moderate to severe tricuspid regurgitation exist together, the following symptoms may result:

•Active pulsing in the neck veins
•Decreased urine outputurine output
•FatigueFatigue, tiredness
•General swelling
•Swelling of the abdomenSwelling of the abdomen
•Swelling of the feetSwelling of the feet and ankles
•WeaknessWeakness
Flycaster offers good advice to help maintain good heart health. If you have any further questions you are welcome to post a followup question.  Hope this helps you with some insight and enable you to have an effective consultation when you see your doctor.  Take care and let us know the outcome of your visit with your doctor.

The extra hard pumping was probably due to the fact that I was outrageously anxious about this test and my heart was pounding throughout the whole thing.  I skipped my anxiety meds so the could get a real picture of my heart function.

You are correct, one test is not conclusive and requires supporting evidence with further testing, symptoms, health history, etc.  Untreated anxiety could be a factor for hyperdynamic heart functionality. Take care and thanks for the response.
