Help!!

I went to the doctor a little over a year ago and he found that my heart rate was really high 130s. He put a monitor on me to monitor my heart rate, which showed times my heart beating as high as 172. So SVT. He put me on some meds to slow my heart rate. I've taken Atenolol, verapamil, and im not sure of the others. So he sent me to a cardiologist, who said that its SVT and that since none of the medications help me he sent me to an electro-cardiologist. That doctor told me that my heart was fine. So I told my family doctor what he had said and he didn't agree and said he was going to have that cardiologist fax him a statement, it's been months now and nothing back. I also had tests that showed up that my potassium level was really low. Here is where Im sitting as of now. A few months ago my doctor thinks I've developed  a panic disorder as well as SVT because of some other problems.  He tried me on almost ALL medications for them as well. I've taken Wellbutrin, Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro, and numerous others. Dr even told me he's tried me on everything that he can for them but nothing helps. I've went to 3 cardiologist and all of them can't give me a straight answer on what is wrong with my heart. I have been reading about panic disorders a lot, and im not so certain i have them. So here are my symptoms: really bad pain back of my head, but with this pain i can't see. Thumbs go numb a lot. muscle spasms in my legs/arms, jerking of head to the left all the time. Dizziness/Breathing problems My blood veins on my arms/face/neck bulge and burn. red blotchy spots on my arms/legs/feet as well as blueness. Hands shake all the time. Face/back of head numbness. I'm also having problems talking.

i'm really curious here. Crys's heart rate was at 172 bpm. why is it assumed that it is svt? what differentiates it from just sinus tachyrdia??   sinus tachycardia being a "racing heart" and all . so why SVT as oppposed to sinus tach?

I just stumbled across this site as I was looking for answers to fluctuating BP's.  Within the past few days I have been diagnosed with Viral Myocarditis following a heart cath.  Am waiting for a scheduled CMRI.  Came home from the hospital late Friday with a diagnosis, a script for Lisinopril, and activity as tolerated orders.  BP drops and spikes as does my heart rate.  Can barely tolerate activity such as walking a city block, showering, drying my hair & dressing.  These activties push my BP down 20+ points and my pulse up 20-40 BPM.  MY question is will any damage already done to my heart repair or improve or will the goal be to prevent any further damage.  Will I omprove enough to resume a somewhat normal lifestyle or am I looking at possible permanent disability?  Also, I am diabetic and have been associating my symptoms of fatigue, blurry vision, breaking into sweats and needle tingles in hands to the diabetis until this past week.  Thanks for any input.

I am pastor with a Local Church in Vallejo seeking help for friend who son has Hole in the Heart and has no money to eat and treating the child and the mother is a Register Nurse in Nigeria and the governments of that state Port Harcourt River State refuse to help even the federal government of Nigeria. (RN)  the son was diagnosing of Ventricular Septal Defect when he was born. The child was born in 2005 and the family needs serious help from any hospital or organization.
Some doctors ask them to seek help anywhere in the world, how can they do this without even not having food to eat and the mother little pay is the only income to the family. Father not working and has Microsoft certification without work for many years now.

There is a new diagnostic test available (at the Cleveland Clinic coincidently) that determines exactly how much blood is circulating in your system.  The sypmtoms you stated could be consistant with hypovolemia (too little blood/plasma) and anemia (too few red blood cells).  This blood volume test can help diagnose the true nature of POTS, syncope and to treat heart failure patients.  There are some very illuminating clinical studies at www.daxor.com (the mfgr of the device) that you should read yourself.  One of the studies done recently is from Dr. Fouad-Tarazi at the Cleveland Clinic that is the largest of it's kind.  Go inform yourself on this as quickly as you can!

Have you had your thyroid checked?  When my Grave's disease was active my normal resting pulse was 120 and would go as high as 180.

HR of 172 while at rest is not normal.  In a 21 year old the most likely diagnosis would be SVT.  There are many different types but some are more common than others.  They typically are not dangerous to you, but may cause some uncomfortable symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath or dizziness/lightheadedness/passing out.  They may not respond well to any medications and may require an ablation procedure if very frequent and difficult to control.  The other symptoms that you are describing may be related to anxiety or panic attacks.  It is hard for me to say without a more thorough evaluation.  The fact that the electro-cardiologist told you that everything was ok with your heart is surprising to me.  I am not sure if the rhythm that he saw was not concerning, but that is quite possible.  Furthermore, I think some type of further evaluation is necessary in your case.  I would say that starting with a portable monitor may not be a bad idea.  Not a Holter monitor, but one that you were for 7-14 days.  It would help your doctors identify if there is an arrhythmia, what type of arrhythmia, how often it happens, and whether it correlates with your symptoms.  If an arrhythmia is found you could revisit your cardiologist or electrophysiologist to readdress this.

I forgot to mention I just turned 21 and I am 5' 7" 110lbs. I also get weird feelings with my heart. It'll go really fast to the point i cannot count the beats, then start going really slow, then it feels like it stops for a few seconds *in which i get this sensation i'm falling out of my body* then beat really hard. It pounds a lot. Are these Heart problems? Caused by SVT? Do I have SVT? = / I'm so confused...
