Help!!!

by lalle, Jan 19, 2009 10:45AM
Okay I'm 17 years old, kinda overweight and i have been having health problems as of recently. Okay well to start with i have this swelling problem that happens in my knees, my shins, my elbows, and my foreman. The pain in my leg region is excrutiatingly severe and is almost intolerable. Lots of times it's been triggered by cold. I've been told that it might be R.A. or Fibromyalga (fibromyalgia) but of course no body has paid adequite attention to it so I have just had to grin and bear it. Also i have this problem with panic attacks or i believe they're panic attacks but I've never had them properly evaluated so I'm not sure. Anyway all I know is I freak out and feel as if every thing around me is gross, disgusting, and contaminated. I've noticed though that each time this has happened it was right after I walked for long distances well okay not very long but my legs will start to itch, which I relize is from bad circulation, and then it'll start and it usually takes a while to stop. I'm not sure why but I'm just wondering if these have anything to do with each other. I really hope you can help me.

Have you measured your height lately to see if you have started growing again?  Growing pains can be severe in your legs.  A lot of girls will grow up until age 20.  Usually, there is a decline around age 14 and then the growth starts again to add at least another inch or two. If you start noticing knobs on your finger joints this would be a sign of RA.  The blood test for RA usually will come back negative until the person has had RA for quite some time.  If the leg pain persists you will need to see your doctor.  Leg pain is one of the signs of leukemia.

This has actually been going on for about 2-3 years and we have already ruled out growing pains because I'm not getting any taller
