Hematoma Pain

I underwent angioplasty and insertion of a stent due to a blockage in a bypass from 10 years ago. Ten days later I felt pain in my groin. After about three weeks the pain was so severe that I went to an emergency room. An anurism was ruled out after a cat scan and ultrasound . It was determined that the cause was a hematoma I am still after a full month in steady pain. My question is when will the pain cease?

If you can feel a lump under the skin which is growing in size, then a cardiologist really needs to see it and monitor it. It's basically a collection of blood under the skin and can be a sign of internal bleeding. If you have no bruising and there is no lump, then I think the hematoma has probably dispersed. Another reason for leg pain can be through pressure on the femoral nerve or damage to it. If they used an angioseal after the procedure this can put pressure on it. The angioseal will fully dissolve within three months but pressure on the femoral nerve should lessen after around 1.5-2 months. If there is damage to the nerve, it can take a bit longer to recover fully. If you still have bruising, draw a pen mark around the edge to give an easy indication if the bruising is still expanding.
