by amitvce, Apr 11, 2008 05:26AM
Hi ,

I am 27 and suffering with H.B.P for last 2 years or more , the readings vary from 140 , upto 160. As per doctor's advise I am taking beta blockers ( Concer Am 5 mg) , but my BP is not coming down.I am working out in Gym ( cardio and bit of weight training ). Is it having some negative effect on my BP and also can you advise me if I need to take any other action.

I am 33 and work out (cardio/weights) which does affect blood pressure while you are working out.  I would suggest talking to your doctor and he may change your dosage or your prescription.  5 mg is pretty low.  What is your heartrate like.  Toprol may be a right medicine fit for you. i take 50 mg in the morning and my Bp was aroung 140 over 85 and now is usually below 120 over 70.
