High Blood Pressure - Hard to Control

by bryan_johnson, Mar 05, 2008 01:48PM
I was diagnosed with High Blood Pressure when I was 19 years old. I am 23 now, and my blood pressure is still out of control. Before medication, I would notice spikes of up to 216/114, and on Metropolol (100mg/day) I am down to an average of 150/85 - 160/95. Recently I have added 8mg of Coversyl and 25mg of Hydrazide to my daily medications. This brought me to a fluxuating bp of anywhere as low as 107/56 (where I feel light headed when I stand up) to a high of 164/112 (when I start getting nausious).

My cardiologist has put me through blood tests, ECGs, EKGs, MRIs you name it and everything looks normal. But even on all the drugs i still get really high highs and really low lows.

I should also mention that all my readings are when im sitting down, not after any exercise. I am also healthy, at 5'10" and 165lbs.

Sometimes while sitting down watching TV I can feel my blood pressure in my eyelids, and I could count my pulse without touching any arteries...I can feel/hear my heart with every beat--it's kind of akward to explain it, as I don't know how.
